At the 2021 REALTOR® Conference & Expo, NAR adopted several new policies and best practice recommendations.

One of the new policies prohibits MLS Participants and Subscribers from filtering out listings based on the level of compensation offered to the cooperating broker or the name of a brokerage or agent.

Statement 8.5: Prohibition on Filtering out Listings

“MLS Participants and Subscribers must not, and MLSs must not enable the ability to, filter out or restrict MLS listings that are searchable by and displayed to consumers based on the level of compensation offered to the cooperating broker or the name of a brokerage or agent.”

To comply with the new policy, MLSOK implemented the following changes in Matrix:

  • Disable sorting by commission/compensation fields on single-line displays
  • Disallow the use of the “not” operator with agent and office listing search criteria
  • Remove all commission/compensation fields from listing search criteria

Upcoming Matrix changes:

  • Remove all commission/compensation fields from saved searches and auto e-mails
