MLSOK Donates $28,525 to Sisu Youth Services

“REALTORS® understand building a strong community means helping people in need connect with resources they need to gain needed stability and rebuild their lives,” said 2021 MLSOK President Monty Strickland. “Sisu does a fantastic job providing young people with shelter, clothing, meals, school supplies and other critical services and support, and we’re glad to help fund their important work.”

Jamie Caves, Sisu’s executive director, thanked the MLSOK board for the generous donation. “Transition-age youth who are experiencing homelessness require a wide variety of services, from an overnight shelter to job training to mental health services, regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, cultural background, or religious affiliation,” Caves said. “This gift will help us welcome even more people with open arms.”

The OKCMAR board announced in December that Sisu would be the organization’s charitable partner of choice for 2022. OKCMAR President Steve Reese said, “Organizations that work to solve homelessness before it becomes a systemic problem really speak to me. I’m excited about the different ways we can contribute throughout the year. I hope you’ll join us!”

Sisu Youth Services helps ensure people ages 15-24 who are experiencing homelessness have a safe place to sleep, the security to dream and the support to make a positive impact on the world.
