OKCMAR members are reminded that tomorrow, March 3rd, is election day.  Every voter in the state will have the opportunity to vote for their party’s nominee to be president.  Depending on where they live, OKCMAR members will have the chance to vote on some key ballot questions. OKCMAR is asking members who are residents of Oklahoma City to consider voting yes to approve a 1/8-cent sales tax increase for parks. If passed, it would be similar to the 1/8-cent sales tax dedicated to the Oklahoma City Zoo approved in 1990.

The City Council would oversee spending of revenue from the proposed parks sales tax. The proposal would require the funds to be spent only on parks operated by OKC Parks, not City-owned parks operated by non-governmental foundations like Scissortail Park or Myriad Botanical Gardens. The proposal also requires the funds to support parks operations, improvements, maintenance and programming. Other ballot questions include a vote in both Cleveland and Oklahoma counties to decide whether to allow liquor stores to open on Sundays.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3.
