On October 15th, members of RISE-OKC met at the Overholser Mansion for a private tour and a historic preservation class. Kathryn Friddle of the City’s Historic Preservation department presented along with GiGi Faulkner.

Friddle said, “Historic neighborhoods are wonderful places to live, but they come with specific requirements to ensure that they retain that wonderful character. It is important for REALTORS® to be familiar with the requirements and to give potential homeowners accurate information in order to avoid complications and misunderstandings down the road.”

The City offers online resources to help educate the public on the topic of historic preservation, zoning being one of the important aspects. “I recommend contacting the Subdivision and Zoning staff if you are trying to confirm the zoning for a property, ” Friddle added. A map is also available – please note that it works best in Internet Explorer.
